What is your legal career and passion in the legal field?
I am a Litigation Associate at SLS Group LLC. Prior to joining the firm, I served as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney with the Marion County Prosecutor's Office for nearly three years. Before that, I spent close to eight years as the Director of Policy and Communications for the Marion County Clerk's Office. During my time there, I worked at the forefront of making voting faster and easier for Indianapolis voters.
What is your involvement with IndyBar?
My primary involvement with IndyBar has been through the Bar Leader Series Class XXI. It's been an incredible opportunity to connect with fellow attorneys who are early in their legal careers, as well as to engage with respected leaders in our legal community—such as Bob Grand and Justice Geoffrey Slaughter. The experience has inspired me to become more active in IndyBar Sections, and I've found that participating in IndyBar events is a great way to earn practical CLE while building meaningful professional relationships.
What is something you're recently proud of?
I'm proud of learning how to endure hardship with resilience and grace. I'm currently navigating life with kidney failure—a diagnosis I never expected, especially after competing as a world-class 800m runner at Indiana University. This condition stems from a rare genetic disorder, not from lifestyle choices, and adjusting to this new reality has been one of the greatest challenges of my life.
Despite the physical and emotional toll, I’ve remained committed to my work as an attorney and continue to produce strong, thoughtful legal work. I’m especially grateful for the support of my wife, family, and friends, who have helped me stay grounded and hopeful. I take pride in not allowing this struggle to define me or negatively impact those around me. Instead, I’ve chosen to keep moving forward with purpose, positivity, and perseverance.
If you feel called to help, I am currently seeking a living kidney donor. To learn more or begin the confidential evaluation process, please visit https://iuhealth.org/living-kidney-donor-evaluation-form.
What is your involvement outside of law?
Outside of my legal career, I’m actively involved with a graduate chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., where I enjoy contributing to community service and mentoring our undergraduate members at Indiana University Bloomington. This summer, I’ve also started taking golf lessons with my wife. I’m a late bloomer to the game, but I’ve really come to enjoy it—and I only wish I had picked it up sooner! I also participated in the 2025 Indiana Kidney Walk at Conner Prairie. My team raised $1,130 and was a top 5 fundraising team. The National Kidney Foundation of Indiana raised a total of $95,539 from the kidney Walk.
How do you like to unwind and relax?
I enjoy a good suspense series on Netflix—something that keeps me guessing and engaged. I also spend time listening to podcasts that offer thoughtful commentary and insight. A few of my favorites include The Right Time with Bomani Jones; The MeidasTouch Podcast, which explores the intersection of law and policy; and The Sanctuary Podcast, which offers meaningful discussions on justice, relationships, and culture from a Christian perspective. These help me stay informed, reflect, and recharge.
