What is your practice area and passion in the legal field?
I am the Real Estate Administrator for the City of Indianapolis. I manage the City’s real estate and capital projects portfolio for government-use buildings. It is a non-practicing role, but the skills I have from being a litigator for seven years prior to this role have allowed me to learn a brand-new area of expertise. I love working on projects that impact our City’s communities for the better. It’s really cool to be able to be part of a project from the very beginning of purchasing a property and see it all the way through design and construction.

What is your involvement with IndyBar?
I am currently the Chair of the Real Estate and Land Use Section, which has allowed me to make connections with some amazing attorneys that I would never have met otherwise. Being a Chair of a section has also allowed me to get to know Chairs of other sections and more of the IndyBar staff. I am also a member of the Public Outreach/ Pro-Bono Committee and was part of the Bar Leader Series, Class 18. IndyBar has allowed me to develop relationships with attorneys that do very different work than I do and has greatly assisted in my professional growth.

What is something you’re recently proud of?
As of this month, I have worked in City-County agencies for ten years. I am proud that I have devoted this much of my career to public service work. I have learned so much about how to be a good attorney and better person through my different roles, and I take a great deal of satisfaction and motivation from that.

What are you involved with outside of law?
I am a new board member of the Coalition for Homelessness Intervention and Prevention (CHIP), which I care deeply about. Indianapolis (and the country) has a huge affordable housing problem, and I want to do what I can to learn more about it and advocate for a solution to it.

How do you like to unwind and relax?
My favorite way to relax is to get away by traveling to a new place and immersing myself in new experiences. When I don’t have the time or funds to travel, I love to spend time with my husband and our four dogs at home, or visit shops and restaurants in our Fountain Square neighborhood.
