Houstonians didn't like the cameras at high-risk intersections, so they voted to remove 50 of them. Since the removal, crashes have increased 117 percent. The lesson? Not only did the removal cost the city financially - they had to pay $4.8 million for early termination of the camera contract - it has also cost lives.
