What is your practice area and passion in the legal field?
I do general civil litigation, representing about 75% defendants and 25% plaintiffs.  I think it is a bit unique that I represent clients on both sides, but I am convinced that insurance defense helps me be a better plaintiff’s attorney and vice versa.

My passion in the legal field lies in my legal writing.  I am happiest when I am researching and briefing unique areas of law, summary judgment motions, appeals, etc.  Legal writing is an artform, and I am always looking to sharpen my skills and improve from assignment to assignment.  I am very thankful for the excellent English and writing education I have received from my teachers and mentors at Saint Simon the Apostle Catholic School, Cathedral High School, DePauw University, and IU McKinney.

What is your involvement with IndyBar?
I am a past chair of the Professionalism Committee and remain on the committee.  If you are looking to join a committee, please reach out to me.  We would love to welcome you!  I am also a past Bar Leader Series graduate and enjoyed my year getting to know my peers and serving our community.

What is something you're recently proud of?
In the fall of 2022, I ran in the TCS New York City Marathon.  It was the most challenging and rewarding experience of my whole life, and it was so fun to share it with my husband, parents, sister, and cousins who traveled to watch me run.  A little piece of my spirit will forever reside in the last three hilly miles in Central Park!

What are you involved with outside of law?

I am actively involved in the Girls State program which aims to teach rising high school senior girls good citizenship while fostering a love for God and Country.  I am a 2008 Girls State alumnae and am still involved as a counselor each summer.

I also love volunteering for Kids Voice of Indiana and You Yes You.

How do you like to unwind and relax?

Other than running, I love playing on a CCA slow-pitch softball team at the Jewish Community Center.  I played four years of softball for DePauw University, so this is my weekly opportunity to enjoy something I know how to do without much thinking.  You can also find me most weekends on the Monon walking or running with friends.  I am also a voracious reader and am always ready to provide and accept book recommendations. (Top picks: A Gentleman in Moscow, the Beartown trilogy, A Man Called Ove…I really like Fredrik Backman, and Where the Crawdads Sing.)
