On February 8th, IndyBar's Law Student Division hosted its second Breakfast with the Bar of the spring semester with the discussion centered around the practice of Business Law.  The attorneys participating shared advice regarding the importance of client relationships and their focus on business success. Attorneys practicing in diverse areas and environments such as litigation, clerking, in-house counsel, and transactional law participated in the discussion. Panelists included: Peter Elliott, Indiana Commercial Court;  Clarissa Walstrom, Frost Brown Todd; Burnell K. Grimes Jr, Carrier Global Corporation; Keith Mundrick, Amundsen Davis; Virginia Speck, Faegre Drinker, and Offer Korin, Stoll Keenon Ogden. The panelists discussed what led them to their particular practice areas and what motivates them in their careers.

Business Law practitioners play a crucial role in advising their clients on how their businesses can thrive. The panelists encouraged law students to remain open minded to different projects and experiences to allow you to find what area of practice you can find purpose and enjoyment. A common theme throughout discussions was the importance of networking and how cultivating those relationships can propel you in your future career. Additionally, each group advised students to take classes such as Secured Transactions, Insurance Law, and Closely Held Business Organizations to prepare oneself for a career in business law. Overall, the event was successful and it provided a valuable experience for interested students.

Thank you to the attorneys who came to speak with the law students. The next Breakfast with the Bar will be held on March 7th and will focus on Information Technology.
