On March 7th, The Indianapolis Bar Association's Law Student Division held its monthly Breakfast with the Bar event on Information Technology at IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law.

A diverse group of attorneys working in both the private sector and serving as in-house counsel participated in the discussion. The attorneys discussed the number of unique areas within the field of Information Technology work such as litigation, cybersecurity, and contract drafting. The participating attorneys included: Siddharth Bose, Ice Miller LLP; Doriann H. Cain, Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP; Stephanie Eckerle, Krieg DeVault LLP; Maddie Jose, Barnes & Thornburg LLP; Elizabeth Vincent, META; and David Wong, Barnes & Thornburg LLP.

A frequent topic of discussion was the difference between working in the private sector and serving as in-house counsel and the vast opportunities this area of practice provides. Students also received insight on specific case types. Recently, new lawsuits have been brought against healthcare facilities and major technology companies for allegedly sharing sensitive personal data with numerous vendors providing web services. If you are interested in case types previously mentioned, Information Technology may be a practice area for you to explore further. Overall, this Breakfast with the Bar was a success, offering students a valuable experience.

Thank you again to the attending attorneys for speaking with our students!
