Best Practices for Remote Civil Proceedings (Zoom Webinar)
Thu, June 25, 2020
10:00 AM - 11:00 AM ET
We do a lot in the courthouse that we might not be able to do for a while, so we asked two U.S. District Court judges to join us and provide tips and best practices for remote civil proceedings. This program will address questions like, "What would the court like practitioners to know?" The judges will also address some rules of civil procedure explicitly permit remote proceedings, such as depositions. Is the court encouraging parties to proceed where they can? Has the court had to intervene in cases where one party wants to proceed remotely while another wants to wait until proceedings can resume in person? What about technology—is the court using videoconferencing on its own initiative or by request? Join us for answers to these questions and more!
Please note: this program will take place as a live webinar via Zoom conferencing and CLE credits earned will be reported as distance education credit. Instructions for accessing the webinar will be provided in your registration confirmation email. As a reminder, distance education limitations have been relaxed due to the COVID-19 public health emergency. There is no limitation on distance education for attorneys and judges with three-year cycles ending in 2020; the limit has been increased to 24 hours for attorneys with three-year cycles ending in 2021/2022.
