Continuing Legal Education

A lawyer’s ability to actively practice inclusiveness is a professional imperative in today’s legal practice and a component in maintaining an Indiana law license. This session examines foundational competencies and behaviors for inclusive leadership through individual reflection and group discussion on implicit bias and microaggressions: the everyday slights, indignities, put-downs and insults, whether intentional or unintentional, that target marginalized groups of people. Further, discussed are strategies for mitigating these mindsets, habits and behaviors in accordance with Rule 8.4(g) of the Indiana Rules of Professional Conduct as a basis for becoming a more respectful and culturally aware professional.
