Continuing Legal Education
This program will explore the reverse waiver and alternative sentencing statutes that are applicable to children prosecuted as adults in criminal court. We'll have an in-depth discussion about the jurisdictional routes for children to be charged in criminal court, how the jurisdictional routes dictate the sentencing options available to the child and what happens when reverse waiver or alternative sentencing are utilized including what services are available for rehabilitation. Our speakers will discuss practical implementation of these sentencing statutes including plea negotiations, preparation for sentencing hearings and evidentiary issues that may arise.
