Emily was born and raised in Indianapolis and only spent a few short years away to get her B.A. in History & Political Science from the University of Evansville. She received her law degree cum laude from the Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2012. Emily has been an attorney at Kids’ Voice of Indiana since 2015, where she currently supervises the agency’s Guardian ad Litem and Community Mobile Law Programs. In addition to her work at Kids’ Voice, she maintains a small private practice doing mostly modest means work in the area of family law.
In addition to the YLD, Emily serves on the Indy Bar Professionalism Committee. A 2017 graduate of the Indiana State Bar Association Leadership Development Academy, Emily is also active in the ISBA, where she currently serves as the Chair of the ISBA’s Public Relations Committee and as a member of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Committee.
Emily is a volunteer judge for Reach For Youth’s Teen Court program and serves on the Board of Directors for the Children’s Policy and Law Initiative. Outside of her work as an attorney, Emily is on the organizing committee for the Arsenal 5k Run/Walk, an annual race that supports scholarships for seniors on the near east-side of Indy. She resides in the charming historic neighborhood of Irvington on the city’s east side with her two loyal dogs, Layla and Maxwell and three rambunctious kittens: Florence, Franklin and Minerva. When she’s not at home snuggling with one of the aforementioned furbabies, you can find her checking out one of Indy’s newest breweries.
