On the morning of April 28, members of Indy Bar's Young Lawyers Division met up at Brightwood College to take part in Keep Indianapolis Beautiful's city cleanup project. Mayor Joe Hogsett stopped by to speak with us as well as other volunteers, highlighting that this event was the largest gathering of volunteers to clean up Indianapolis in the city's history. YLD then made a trip to Emmerich Manual High School, where we assisted in removing honeysuckle, an invasive species, from the river next to the school. While some took hedge cutters and saws to the bushes, others carried the branches off to be mulched, and a third group sprayed herbicide on the stumps so that the hardy invaders could not return. Regardless of the duties, we all had a great workout and if such an opportunity interests you, keep an eye out for other service projects with the IndyBar coming up.
