Meet the YLD: Leeann Simpkins
I am an associate at Wooden & McLaughlin LLP, where I focus my practice on employment counseling and litigation. I advise clients with respect to all aspects of the employment relationship, and I regularly defend employers in state and federal court, as well as before various administrative agencies. I am also a qualified civil mediator and a former lobbyist.
In my free time (remind me again what that is?), I love baking, shopping, playing soccer, and spending time with my husband, Chris (an attorney at SmithAmundsen), and our new baby daughter.
I was first introduced to the Young Lawyers Division as a summer associate, when I participated in the summer scavenger hunt. I continued to attend YLD events to socialize with friends and expand my professional network—plus, drink tickets! I later served on the YLD’s Scavenger Hunt Committee and Social Committee before joining the Executive Committee in 2016.
The YLD offers a variety of programming that is designed to foster the development of our city’s young lawyers—ranging from networking with young professionals in other industries, to continuing legal education courses, to community service projects. At the very least, it provides a great opportunity to get out of the office, mingle with old friends and make some new ones. (Plus, drink tickets!)
If you would like to know more about the YLD or how to get involved, please do not hesitate to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
