Young Lawyers News

By Janelle Kilies, Lewis Wagner LLP

I am a born and raised Hoosier and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. After graduating from IU, I decided I wasn’t quite ready to go to law school (although I knew that was my ultimate plan), so I packed up and moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where I taught English and traveled throughout Southeast Asia. After another backpacking trip through Central and South America, I finally decided it was time to settle down and go to law school.

I attended the IU Robert H. McKinney School of Law and became very active with the Indianapolis Bar Association. I found it to be very rewarding and have made several friends throughout my years as an attorney. I am currently an associate with Lewis Wagner LLP and am part of the complex litigation section. I focus my practice on medical device/product liability defense, along with consumer class action defense. I absolutely love what I do and the people I work with. I also have gotten to know many people through my time on the executive committee for the Young Lawyers Division, which makes practicing in Indy all the better!

If you have any questions about how (or why) to become an active member of the YLD, please do not hesitate to contact me at I love this organization and attribute a lot of my professional relationships to my involvement with the IndyBar.
