On Saturday, December 12, In lieu of a division Holiday Party, the Women and the Law Division (WLD) sponsored a holiday party for approximately 30 children residing at the Coburn Place in Indianapolis.

Coburn Place Safe Haven provides fully furnished apartments to women who have suffered from domestic violence. These women, along with their children, stay anywhere from six months to two years to begin healing and move toward a life of independent living.

The WLD had 22 volunteers who assisted the cookie decorating, face-painting, holiday crafts and holiday ornament decorating. Many of the attorney volunteers also brought their children along to help with the event, and the popular balloon artist Faith the Fairy was a huge hit with all of the kids.

In addition to volunteering their time, the WLD members also collected and donated shelf-stable snacks for Coburn Place’s after-school program. Thank you to all who volunteered and happy holidays!
