Recent NFL scandals have rocked the legal community, between Ray Rice last week and Adrian Peterson this week. Conversations have sparked across the nation about the crimes committed that involve NFL players. This New York Times article takes a look at data on arrests, charges and citations of NFL players and breaks down the numbers from 2000 to 2013.

Some important trends emerged: arrests of NFL players peaked in the mid-2000s and are way down this year, player arrests vary widely among NFL teams and arrest rates for an NFL franchise tend to persist over time.
