Get to know members of the Sports & Entertainment Law Section! This blog series highlights section members, their practice and their personal interests. Take a seat and get to know them! This week's post features James Nussbaum of Indiana University.

Name, firm and position at firm?
I'm James Nussbaum and I work as Associate General Counsel for Indiana University.

What is the focus of your practice?
My practice focuses on a broad range of higher education issues including student affairs, athletics 
and employment law. 

What is your specialty area?
I work primarily with IU and IUPUI athletics handling internal investigations, employment matters
and general advising, but also handle sexual misconduct cases regarding both students and staff/faculty.

How long have you been practicing?
Four years.

What was the highlight of your practice in 2018?
Seeing the fantastic results our student-athletes have achieved on and off the field and knowing that I was able to support their efforts behind the scenes.

What is your favorite sport and sports team/player?
My favorite sport is football. My current favorite player is Javy Baez on the Chicago Cubs.

What is your favorite song and musical artist/band?
Something Beautiful—Needtobreathe
