Solo Small Firm Practice News

We’ve all heard it: “Nothing is certain but death and taxes” (and, God willing, retirement but don’t get me started on that…).  Did you know that the IndyBar has a packet entitled Planning Ahead: A Plan for Protecting Your Clients in the Event of your Disability or Death that is available to members and non-members, FOR FREE? (insert a questioning face GIF here – just use your imaginations) I didn’t. I know it is something that none of us like thinking about but I also know that, just like some fabulous colleagues we’ve lost over the last couple of years, it could happen to me in a blink of an eye. While it may be a plan for protecting my clients, it is also arguably something I can have prepared to help my law partner or firm be protected as well. I’m going to check it out and I hope you will too. I know as a small firm(er) there are a thousand things swimming through your head at all hours of the day or night. Let this be one of the things you can check off the worry list.

Also, did you know you are supposed to have a surrogate? Are you willing to serve as one? Watch for upcoming announcements from the IndyBar about the re-launch of a service to help meet those needs.
