From the Department of Metropolitan Development:
Our existing Sign Ordinance has not been comprehensively updated in many years–some portions date back to the mid-1980s! The goals of the revision are to: promote the elements of good design, location, and maintenance of signs; eliminate visual clutter and blight; eliminate excessive signage and reduce hazards to motorists and pedestrians; encourage compatible scale between buildings and signage; reduce the negative impacts of signage on neighborhoods; and, preserve and protect historic signs.
The public comment period on the working draft is now open. Review and comment here.
