This year, our state is turning the big 2-0-0! On December 11, 1816, Indiana became a state. You might have noticed the many activities that have been advertised over this year celebrating our statehood! This year and next, my family is touring the state trying to hit every county and take a picture of each county seat, in celebration of our 200th birthday. It has taken us through some of the most amazing backroads, little towns, crazy roadside attractions and fantastic diners that would have been missed if it were not for going out of our way to take the road less traveled. Since I started this adventure with my family this year, I have been trying to find historic information or any other celebrations unique to the counties or our state. The other day, I ran across this link from the Indiana State Library. Each month, they post a week-by-week play of historic events from Indiana called “This Week in Indiana History.” There is always something new to learn about the place we call home. Happy birthday, Indiana!
