Welcome to the Litigation Section – the largest in the IndyBar! As the 2016 Chair, I encourage you to get involved with the section, whether that means attending our educational programs on a variety of litigation topics, networking with colleagues and judicial officers at section events or volunteering for service on the executive committee. As litigators, we know you are busy and want to stay involved and in the know. We are here to help! The Litigation Section is dedicated to helping you be a better litigator – whatever your level of experience and practice area. If you are not already a section member, make sure to join for meaningful opportunities to learn, lead and lend your voice to our litigation community.
What’s on the section’s docket for 2016? The Litigation Section is sponsoring the outstanding Litigation Trial Skills Series - nine CLEs designed to hone your litigation skills with legal analysis, practice pointers and advocacy tips from experienced trial lawyers and judges. The Series kicks off with the February 11th CLE: “Am I in the Right Court? Venue and Personal Jurisdiction,” featuring Sam Laurin, Bose McKinney & Evans LLP. This program will help you navigate those crucial steps in a case and also address hot topics such as personal jurisdiction and the internet. Stay tuned for the Section’s newest resource for busy litigators – the IndyBar Litigation Section’s Courts Guide currently scheduled to launch in February. Check out our website to stay on top of all of the section news and updates. We hope you will submit practice tips, articles and other materials for possible inclusion in newsletters via Rachel Beachy, the IndyBar’s Communications Coordinator, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Your submissions are a great vehicle to highlight your knowledge and expertise on a litigation topic. We welcome your ideas and participation and hope to see you soon at our upcoming programs and events.
