Once again, speakers shared their tips and tricks for navigating the Blue Book in this session of What You Need to Know for law students. Janelle Kilies of Lewis Wagner LLP and Andrea Kochert, law clerk for Indiana Supreme Court Justice Brent Dickson, spoke to students about how to best use the Blue Book. In the discussion of case formats, statutes and parentheticals, attendees discovered that accurate citations heighten professionalism and credibility. We also learned that, while the Blue Book should be an everyday resource, supervisory instructions and specific jurisdictional rules should be observed. The presenters took what can be an overwhelming topic an made it interesting and practicable.
