The legalization of marijuana in two states could affect Indiana businesses sooner than you think. With random drug tests for employees a customary practice, an employee who participated in entirely legal activity in their previous state could get flagged in Indiana. So what can businesses do? Instate a policy now. This article recommends planning ahead for when this issue arises so that you have a game plan in place when it does. Eventually, these cases will work their way to the federal level and there will be clear guidelines on how to handle the situation. Those decisions can take years, so in the meantime, having your own solid business policy is a good place to start.
