Steve Loewengart authored the article “The Rise of Love Contracts: Workplace Relationships in a Post #MeToo Era” featured in Ohio Matters Magazine. In a post #MeToo era it has become necessary for employers to establish and promote clear policies on office romances.
Many are even asking employees to sign “love contracts” that spell out the voluntary nature of the romance — that is, affirming it is consensual, each employee is free to leave the relationship without fear of retaliation and that both parties fully understand the company’s sexual harassment policy.
Steve recommends creating a plan of action that includes reviewing and updating sexual harassment policies, creating a hotline to report inappropriate behavior, and instituting appropriate managerial training.
