Labor and Employment Law News

Posted on: Oct 2, 2017

Greetings, fellow members of the IndyBar Labor & Employment Section! As we are entering the home stretch of 2017, we have some upcoming events that I want to share with you. First off, the section will once again host its annual Employment Essentials Workshop on October 25 at Tinker House. This is a unique event that focuses on employment law challenges facing small businesses, including issues on wage & hour, immigration, hiring and firing issues, non-compete agreements, and employment discrimination. It's a great opportunity to invite your small business contacts to attend a cost-effective yet highly informative program! Get more info and register yourself here, but send your small business friends to to register. Finally, we will host the Federal Agency Meet & Greet program on November 8 featuring representatives of the EEOC, NLRB and Department of Labor. We'll stick around after the CLE for appetizers and drinks. You can register for that event here!

Also, we are also starting to plan ahead for programming for the 2018 calendar year. To that end, we would really appreciate your feedback on the programs that you attended in 2017 (i.e., thoughts on the speakers, relevance of the various topics, etc.) as well as ideas for future topics that you would like to see covered and speakers you would like to hear from over the course of the next year. A survey was previously circulated but if you did not have an opportunity to respond, please feel free to email your thoughts directly to me at

Lastly, if you have an article, a blog post, or even just an interesting or informative link you’d like to share with fellow section members, please submit it to Kara Sikorski for consideration for posting to our section's webpage.
