On Thursday, October 22 we held our Employment Law for Small Businesses Seminar for local small businesses and attorneys who were seeking basic employment law information. We had approximately 40-45 attendees this year, which is a significant increase from our numbers in our inaugural seminar last year. I want to thank all of our presenters, as well as Brian Burbrink and other section committee members, for volunteering to organize this event. I also want to thank our Indianapolis Bar Association staff members, in particular Deneen Fitzgerald, for their support in making this seminar a success.
I hope many of you can and will be attending our 2015 Federal Employment Agency Meet & Greet. It is this Thursday, November 5. The seminar will be from 4 to 5 p.m. with a reception to follow from 5 to 6 p.m. It will be held at Tavern on South, which is at 423 W. South Street in downtown Indianapolis. It will feature Patricia Lewis, U.S. Department of Labor; Joanne Mages, National Labor Relations Board; and, Webster N. Smith Sr., Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. As this is the last Labor & Employment Law Section update for 2015, which means it is my last update serving as Chair of our section, I want to thank you for your support. I also want to thank the section committee members and Indianapolis Bar Association staff for their hard work, organization and dedication this year. It has been a pleasure to get to know and work with everyone. I look forward to working with the 2016 incoming Chair, Brian Burbrink.
