IndyBar IP Section Executive Committee Meeting
- Joel Tragesser opened the meeting
- Feedback elicited on corporate counsel panel discussion
- Box lunches next time to expedite program
- Good turn out; many Business Law Section members
- Other IP corporate counsel have expressed interest to join a panel in 2018
- Patent law exam scholarship
- 3 awarded but no updates from the 3 selected. If no one claims, money to be allocated back to section.
- Maybe expand to first and second year students to increase interest
- 2018 IP section budget
- What does section want to accomplish?
- Bill McKenna to think of some ideas to add (new social hours; drinks at evening CLEs)
- Budget due October 1, 2017. Bill McKenna to handle
- 2018 Office and Committee members:
- Bill McKenna to move to Chair in 2018
- John Bishop to move to Chair-Elect in 2018
- Joel Tragesser elicited interest from section members in becoming Recorder
- 19 members currently on section. Current members please advise if any recommendations for additional interested members
- Upcoming CLEs:
- October 12, 2017: Developments in Patent Law
- November, 2017: Advanced IP practices (TBD)
- December: Annual IP Ethics: Kevin Erdman to present-quick update only (TBD)
- Possibly give credit to past speakers with Kevin leading update of materials
- Norm Hedges and/or Mark Janis would be interested in adding pro-bono component to December ethics session
- No update from San Diego attorney; dropped off schedule
