The Indianapolis Bar Association (“IndyBar”) is reviewing the decision of the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals holding the Marion County judicial selection system unconstitutional. For more than 20 years, the IndyBar has taken an active interest in the best methods of selecting judges in Marion County. As we wait to see if an appeal ensues, the IndyBar will continue to offer its assistance in the crafting of an appropriate remedy to address the Court’s ruling. Marion County has been well served by its excellent judges over the years, and inclusive engagement of all interested parties in creating a new judicial selection method will ensure that continues.

The Indianapolis Bar Association is a voluntary membership organization comprised of more than 4,900 attorneys, judges, paralegals and law students. Founded in 1878, the association's mission is to serve its members, promote justice and enhance the legal profession. The association is governed by a 32-member Board of Directors.
