Community members will have the opportunity to win prizes, tackle an obstacle course, meet public safety officials and enjoy free refreshments as the Martin Luther King Community Center and volunteer attorneys from the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Bar Leader Series team up to host the Kids Community Fair at the center on Saturday, March 28 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Various organizations have pitched in to make this day of fun for local kids and parents possible. The YMCA will provide both education on nutrition and health and an obstacle course for children, Beacon of Hope will share information on teen violence, and officials from the city’s fire department, SWAT team and bomb squad will give kids a chance to form positive relationships with law enforcement while getting first-hand look at equipment, including a fire truck.

Parents can get information on a variety of resources, including SNAP benefits, and speak with representatives from organizations like the 10 Point Coalition, plus eight Pacers tickets and four Indy Fuel tickets will be raffled to attendees. Second Helpings will provide free refreshments on-site, while Gleaners will send attendees home with nutritional snacks. This event was also made possible through generous sponsorships from WalMart and Marsh.

Those interested in attending can RSVP to satcommunityfair@gmail.com.
