One of the  benefits of networking with lawyers and non-lawyers alike is potential referrals for future clients. Along with referrals comes the question of referral fees: when can you pay one and what are the rules?

This article breaks down the rules on paying referral fees when it comes to both lawyers and non-lawyers. The ABA Model Rules of Professional Conduct have been adopted by  most states, although checking with the state rules to ensure compliance is always a good idea.
