What's the Monthly Match Program all about? Find out through this testimonial series from those who've been there and done that! This week's article features Alyssa Devine.

"I met with John Moriarty from Woodard Emhardt Moriarty McNett & Henry LLP recently for the Indy Attorneys Network Monthly Match Program. Mr. Moriarty is Senior Counsel at his firm, which largely assists clients with patent and trademark issues. During our meeting, I learned that in order to practice patent law, you must pass the patent bar in addition to a state bar. He also explained that patent attorneys generally have a bachelor's degree in engineering.

I asked Mr. Moriarty about his advice to me as a first-year law student. He said, 'Get to know people.' He iterated the importance of building relationships with other attorneys to become recognized in the legal community as a hard-working attorney who does good work. In addition, Mr. Moriarty went on to explain how I can take concrete actions to getting to know attorneys in the Indianapolis area through Indianapolis Bar Association events and informational interviews."
