As your 2021 chair, and on behalf of the E-Discovery, Information Governance & Cybersecurity Section, welcome to 2021! Thank you for your membership, and we are excited to turn the page to what we hope will be a great year for our section. We closed out 2020 with another successful E-Discovery Day. I also want to take this opportunity to thank our outgoing chair, Robert Simmons of Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, for his leadership during an unprecedented year.

Katrina Kelly of Faegre Drinker Biddle & Reath LLP is our incoming chair-elect and Adam Ira of Frost Brown Todd LLC will be serving as this year’s secretary and treasurer. We also welcome four new members to the Executive Committee: Helen Geib, John Babione, Mercedes Logan and Kip McDonald. In the next few weeks, these new members will be introducing themselves to the section through our webpage, so keep an eye out!

Additionally, we have already started planning for our first quarter CLE, Where Law Meets Technology: What Every Litigator Needs to Know About Form of Production. Mark your calendars for March 30 from 2 to 3 p.m. Helen Geib, Riley Floyd and Molly Harkins will be presenting on e-discovery topics for all levels with a focus on production. The program will provide a comprehensive overview of both the technical and legal aspects of production format and provide practice tips for negotiating ESI protocols, avoiding common production problems and assessing your data early in the case. Registration will be opening soon and we hope you can join us for this virtual event.

We value your membership in the section. In an effort to provide you with in-demand educational and networking opportunities, please feel free to reach out to any of our executive committee members to discuss ideas for 2021 CLEs, including E-Discovery Day, publication opportunities through our section webpage and other opportunities you would like to see as we plan for 2021. Stay tuned!
