The PKD Foundation is hosting the 2014 Indy Walk for PKD on Saturday, September 20. Registration for the walk will begin at 8 a.m. and the walk begins at 9 a.m. at Michael A. Carroll Stadium on the IUPUI campus. To register for the event online, go to walkforpkd.org/Indianapolis.
This walk is the signature fundraising and awareness event for the PKD Foundation. It is the largest gathering of PKD patients, family, friends and supporters in the nation - more than 11,000 will join. Since 2000, the walk has raised nearly $22 million. The PKD Foundation uses this money to fund research to find treatments and a cure and also to provide information and support for people affected by PKD.
There is no treatment or cure for PKD. The disease causes cysts to grow on the kidneys, eventually leading to kidney failure. The PKD Foundation is the only organization in the U.S. solely dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for PKD to improve the lives of those it affects.
