As of July 1, if you have "a good faith belief" that a minor will suffer "harm if not immediately removed from the vehicle," it is legal for you to smash a window to forcibly enter a parked car in Tennessee. This law is especially pertinent during the hot summer months.

Tennessee is the only state with this type of law, but it may considered elsewhere to help prevent forgetfulness from turning fatal. Read more from when the bill was first proposed here, and read a current article discussing the bill here.
