Welcome to Tip of the Week! Judicial officers will offer a tip each week for members of the Family Law Section. Feel free to send suggestions to Mag. Kim Mattingly at kimberly.mattingly@indy.gov.

For panicky clients who can’t seem to relax when younger children are away from them, check out the GizmoGadget smartwatch for kids. It features GPS tracking (like Find My iPhone, or Find My Friends) and can even be used for calls. They have been spotted at Costco for $50 plus the cost of adding it to your mobile/cellular plan. Parents do not have to invest hundreds in a phone that can get broken or lost, and the functions are very limited to keep grade-school kids off the internet, social media and the like.

What about older kids who have smart phones and lose them at one house, but are headed to the other house for parenting time? Try the Circle device and app, which is a partnership with Disney. The parent, via an app on their phone, can limit the child’s phone capability while in their home. If both parents have this system, the child can still use the phone to be tracked or to communicate with the other parent, but be prohibited from accessing whatever they lost as a privilege. Genius!

Stay tuned for a new tip next week!
