Two of the IndyBar Family Law Executive Committee members, Jonathan Deenik and Amanda Blystone, have been serving on a committee considering a proposal to modify Appellate Rule 9.
Currently, Post-Conviction Rule 2 allows belated appeals only in certain criminal cases. The proposed rule would expand the opportunities for litigants to file belated appeals under certain circumstances. Jonathan and Amanda have been working with the committee to ensure that the concerns/goals of family law litigants and attorneys are addressed by the proposed changes. Before their committee reports back to the full IndyBar Board, they would like to give Family Law Section members an opportunity to review the proposed changes and give feedback.
Please take time to read the current red-lined draft of the proposed Rule 9.1. Please get in touch with Jonathan (jdeenik@cpwglaw.com) and/or Amanda Blystone (ablystone@bkrlaw.com) with comments/concerns/questions. All comments must be submitted no later than October 3, 2014.
