To update prior news alerts, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (“IDEM”) and the Indiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust Fund Committee just wrapped up five public meetings across the state to discuss how the state will disburse the $41 million it received in the Volkswagen emissions settlement. The meetings took place in Indianapolis, Portage, Evansville, Fort Wayne, and Seymour in January and February. Currently, IDEM and the Committee are seeking public comments on Indiana’s Beneficiary Mitigation Plan Draft Framework. If you or your clients have any opinions on the how the funds should be allocated among the ten eligible categories of mitigation actions listed here, then you should submit those comments before March 30, 2018.
