When much of an environmental lawyer’s day can be filled with resolving violations, litigating a cost recovery action, or managing a remediation, it is nice to periodically focus on clients that maintain a clean history. You now have the opportunity to nominate such a client to receive Indiana’s most prestigious environmental recognition award – the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence.

The nominee can be a citizen, business, nonprofit organization, school, university, or government agency that positively impacts the environment and demonstrates measurable environmental, economic, and social benefits. Examples of the type of innovation, stewardship, and/or partnership sought include implementing emerging technology that serves as a model for others, reducing waste and minimizing impact on the environment, and establishing a relationship with another party to make better use of natural resources and advance sustainable actions.

Give a few minutes to the client that is not a violator, PRP, or RP, and submit the application by July 28. More information on the Governor’s Award for Environmental Excellence can be found here.
