As this year’s section chair, I’d like to update you on what your section is doing this year. The section just hosted its first CLE and spring social at the Rathskeller and is looking forward to our next CLE and social coming this May.
On May 4, the section hosted a meet and greet with Marion Superior Court Judge Timothy Oakes, who has recently taken on all Environmental Court cases. The event was held in the Civil 2 courtroom. Section members had the chance to welcome Judge Oakes and the Civil 2 staff, and they brought questions about the transfer of environmental cases to Civil 2.
To finish out the spring, the Environmental Law Section is teaming up with the Indiana Chapter of the Air & Waste Management Association to present a CLE on EPA’s recent RCRA rules. Ashly Insco at T & M Associates, Lisa Messinger at Vectren and Bruce Palin at IDEM will cover the new rule on the disposal of coal combustion residuals and the new final rule on the definition of solid waste. We hope you’ll join us at the Rathskeller on Tuesday, May 12 for the CLE and stick around afterwards for a social with the Air & Waste Management Association.
