Only two of us (Eli and I) called in for the meeting today, so I’ll just send a little update in lieu of our meeting.
- I’ve spoken to IndyBar President John Trimble about increasing the virtual CLEs to six per year instead of six per every three years. He is in favor of putting this forth. (His initial comment about fly-by-night CLE providers was in relation to a different question, so we have the green light to move forward with this.) I will draft a proposal and submit it to the Committee for review and comment.
- I wanted to provide a rough script for each of us to say before we introduce our speakers at CLEs to help get some traffic to our website (no need to say it verbatim, of course): "Welcome to the [third/fourth/etc.] monthly CLE hosted by the Indy Bar Association Business Law Section. If I’m ____, an executive committee member. If you haven’t already, we invite you to visit the Business Law Aection’s web page to learn more about the Business Law section, including its Plus CLE membership, the topics of each of our 10 CLEs and other activities of the Business Law Section. The website is indybar.org. Log in by typing your email address and your IndyBar membership number (you can get this by contacting the bar). Click the tab "Interest Groups" to get to the section web pages. Our next CLE will be on _______, at the [IndyBar offices] at [noon/5 p.m.; at May event, note the beer tasting in June].”
- If we are going to direct traffic to the web page and provide value for our members, we need to add content. I invite each of you to think about a subject, case or other relevant issue for an article to put on the website. Remember, recycled articles from your firm are welcome as is introductory commentary to articles published by others.
- At the next meeting, let’s have each of our subcommittee chairs report. It would be great if we could determine what charity we will contribute to and how much and, at least review a few charitable events that we might want to open up to our membership.
