While not specific to the Indianapolis Bar Association, our Appellate Practice Section friends may be interested in attending the upcoming 67th Annual Meeting of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association and Judicial Conference. The Seventh Circuit’s Annual Meeting rotates every year between Indianapolis, Chicago, and Milwaukee. This year, the Annual Meeting will be in Chicago from April 29-31, 2018. Of particular interest to appellate practitioners will be the civil breakout session on Monday afternoon, April 30, where a panel of speakers, including the Honorable Diane Sykes of the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals, will be presenting a review of Seventh Circuit decisions.
The Annual Dinner is scheduled for later that evening at the Radisson Aqua Blu Hotel in downtown Chicago. If you have not been to the Annual Dinner before, it is always a tremendous event and an opportunity to mix and mingle with litigators and appellate lawyers, district court judges, and appellate jurists and court staff. Each table has at least one federal judge and his or her guest seated at the table, so you may find yourself sharing dinner conversation with one of our esteemed Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals judges.
Of additional interest to our appellate friends will be one of the speakers, the Honorable Elena Kegan, Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court. Justice Kegan will be followed by keynote speaker Jeffrey Toobin, a high-profile senior analyst for CNN and a staff writer for The New Yorker.
Registration for the Annual Meeting is ongoing, and tickets/tables to the Annual Dinner sell out early, so for more information, please visit 7thcircuitbar.org.
