The Court of Appeals of Indiana disposed of 3,362 cases and issued 2,058 majority opinions last year, according to the court’s 2013 Annual Report. The Court also acted on nearly 7,000 motions, Petitions for Time, and Miscellaneous Orders.

The Court continues its high standard of quick action on fully briefed cases. The average age of pending cases was one month on Dec. 31, 2013 – the same as 2012. Case filings in 2013 declined slightly from the previous year, to 3,931, while the ratio of filed criminal cases to filed civil cases remained the same as the last several years, at about 2:1.

The Court conducted 71 oral arguments last year, including 30 traveling oral arguments held at high schools, colleges, law schools and other sites.
