Appellate Practice News

Posted on: Feb 17, 2017

Dear IndyBar Appellate Practice Section members,

The Appellate Practice Section is planning various CLEs for 2017, including our annual Appellate Roundtable and Reception that will be held later this year. On April 13, the section will host its first CLE of the year. Kyle C. Gillaspie, Chief Staff Attorney for the Court of Appeals of Indiana, will discuss Administrative Rule 9 and Appellate Rule 23(F) and provide practical advice on how to maintain confidentiality at the trial level and on appeal. Register for the program here.

Recently, I met with IndyBar staff and representatives of other sections to discuss updating the IndyBar’s form library. The goal of this project is to update the current forms that are electronically available to IndyBar members and provide greater access to basic forms that may be useful in a variety of practice areas. If you have any ideas for appellate forms we could provide to IndyBar for posting in the library, please contact Kara Sikorski, Marketing & Communications Coordinator for the IndyBar.

If you have an appellate argument coming up in the Indiana Supreme Court or Court of Appeals, go here to learn about our moot court program, the Indiana Appellate Institute. Also, please go to this page if you are interested in serving as a volunteer judge for a moot argument.

Thank you for your continued involvement in our section and the IndyBar. We look forward to seeing you at the next event!
