The IndyBar ADR Section Executive Committee is delighted to announce that we will host our Fall Mediation Day on September 13, 2019, at Barnes & Thornburg LLP. Through Mediation Day, we provide a service to our courts and community by volunteering our time to mediate several screened cases for litigants who qualify for modest means mediation. Once again Barnes & Thornburg LLP has generously volunteered to provide conference facilities for this joint endeavor.
Magistrate Kern in Paternity Court is screening non-domestic violence cases for us and expects to have 10 cases to mediate on September 13. Several of you have already reached out to volunteer. All of the morning cases are filled, but we are in need of three mediators to mediate in the afternoon at 1 p.m. The pre-requisites to serve as mediator are to be registered domestic mediators and to have experience mediating paternity cases. Volunteers should bring a laptop to assist with drafting agreements. There will also be a judicial officer on-site to approve mediated agreements.
We hope you will set aside September 13 to volunteer for this fun and exciting program! If you wish to volunteer and are available at 1 pm on September 13, please email Phyllis Armstrong at
