Alternative Dispute Resolution News

Posted on: Jul 7, 2020

As many of you may know, the IndyBar Paternity Court Spring Mediation Day was unable to occur due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The IndyBar Alternative Dispute Resolution Section Executive Committee is excited to announce that we will host our first Virtual Paternity Court Mediation Days on August 7, and 14, 2020.

We are seeking mediators willing to volunteer their services to mediate carefully selected paternity court cases (via a virtual platform such as Zoom) for litigants who qualify for modest means mediation. Magistrate Kern in paternity court is screening non-domestic violence cases for us and expects to have five cases to mediate the mornings of Aug. 7 and 14. The pre-requisites to serve as mediator are to be registered domestic mediators and to have experience mediating paternity cases.

We hope you will set aside the mornings of Aug. 7 and 14 to volunteer for this fun and exciting virtual program! If you wish to volunteer and are available on either date, please email Phyllis Armstrong at phyllis@childadvocates.net.

If you would like to submit content or write an article for the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section, please email Kara Sikorski at ksikorski@indybar.org.
