How can you become a better mediator? Do you ask yourself this question? I do. Here are my tips:
- Join the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the Indianapolis Bar Association and get involved. We have settlement weeks in the fall and spring. Great opportunities to help litigants, get experience and stretch your muscles doing pro bono mediations. Try something new!
- We have exciting programs scheduled for October. Plan to attend and/or participate.
- Consider the Shared Neutrals Program. Mediators are not paid, but get great experience mediating cases for state agencies. Learn more about the program here.
- Listen to your clients.
- Have fun! Remember, practice makes perfect!
