As we approach the Indianapolis Bar Foundation Day of Giving this year, we can draw inspiration from Nelson Mandela and have absolute certainty that our gifts, entrusted to the IndyBar Foundation, will continue to hit the mark during these particularly volatile times. The Indianapolis Bar Foundation leadership has increased its generosity during the pandemic to meet critical needs in the community. For any skeptics, the numbers don’t lie.

The Indianapolis Bar Association's Nominating Committee has announced the selection of David J. Duncan as the 2024 President of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Duncan will serve as the association's First Vice President on the 2022 Board of Directors and as President Elect in 2023.

It's hard to escape news involving famous people. Even harder when there is a whole movement calling attention to a specific story. “Free Britney” is a movement that started in social media when the public learned of the pop singer's strict conservatorship. Jamie Spears, her father, has been the acting conservator of Britney’s estate, valued at around $60 million. Her father still has the role even though he stated publicly that he would step down as conservator.

For young people in our community, a second chance can make a big difference. Through a grant awarded by  the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, a new project will help extend those second chances to even more central Indiana youths in need of a helping hand.

The IndyBar Women and the Law Division is pleased to announce former U.S. Representative Susan Brooks as the 2021 Antoinette Dakin Leach Award winner. The ADL Award recognizes the accomplishments of female trailblazers within the Indianapolis legal community who have paved the way for other female attorneys to continue breaking barriers within this honorable profession. It is only fitting that Congresswoman Brooks, who has spent her career serving Hoosiers, be honored with such a prestigious award.

Through the Virtual Ask a Lawyer program, individuals can chat in real time with an attorney who is prepared to assist with basic legal questions. The service, regularly available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on weekdays, will be available for extended hours from 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, September 14.
