Previous advocates for planned gifts to the Indianapolis Bar Foundation have made a compelling personal case for such gifts. These gifts support the good works of the Indianapolis Bar Foundation, which are very worthy of that support.

There are generally two types of responses to problems: remedial responses that address the symptoms of a problem and structural responses that try to address root causes. For example, there may be a lack of diversity on panels and commissions. A remedial response would be to appoint new members to such groups. A structural response would be to identify and address any systemic reasons that caused a lack of diversity in the first place.

Recently, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a proposed rule that would “require the control, capture, and/or destruction” of a HFC-23, a hydrofluorocarbon byproduct that the EPA described as a “very potent greenhouse gas.” 86 Fed. Reg. 53916. HFC-23 is produced in the manufacture of HCFC-22, commonly known as Freon, which was widely used as a refrigerant and coolant.

On November 8, 2021, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Indiana will both upgrade their Case Management/Electronic Case Filing Systems (CM/ECF) to the Next Generation of CM/ECF (NextGen). This upgrade will provide users with several benefits including Central Sign-On, which allows e-filing attorneys to use one PACER login and password to access any NextGen court (district, appellate, and bankruptcy) in which they practice.
