Increase in Attorney Annual Registration Fees

The Indiana Supreme Court issued an order that increases annual registration fees for Indiana attorneys.  The fees, due each year by October 1, are now $180 for active attorneys and $90 for inactive attorneys, an increase of $35 and $17.50 respectively.  The last attorney annual registration fee increase occurred in 2011.

Annual registration will open on August 1. Attorneys use the Clerk of Court’s Portal to pay fees as well as review Roll of Attorney information, complete Interest on Lawyer Trust Accounts (IOLTA) certification, and designate an attorney surrogate.  Fees are paid via credit card, e-check, or cash/check.

Delinquent fees are charged for those who do not meet the October 1 payment deadline and those fees are also increased.  In addition to the annual registration fee, delinquent fees will be assessed at $130 for payments made between October 2 and October 15; $180 for payments made between October 16 and December 31; and $330 for payments made after December 31.

Indiana’s fees for annual attorney registration, which fund the operation of the Indiana Supreme Court Disciplinary Commission, the Indiana Commission for Continuing Legal Education, and the Judges and Lawyers Assistance Program, are among the lowest in the country and are below the average for voluntary bar states.
