Local Attorney Becomes President of Indianapolis Bar Association

A first-generation lawyer, born and raised in Indianapolis, has become the 133rd President of the Indianapolis Bar Association. Michael J. Hebenstreit of Whitham Hebenstreit & Zubek, took the oath of office to lead this local organization of over 5,000 legal professionals in front of hundreds of well-wishers.

Hebenstreit has held a number of leadership positions in the Association and has been the recipient of the Bar’s Pro Bono Award for service to the indigent. He is also a past winner of the President’s Award for Service to the Profession.

Focusing his law practice on business formation, Hebenstreit’s work also includes contract negotiation, bankruptcy and workout matters, general litigation and family law litigation. He also currently serves as a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Panel Trustee. He is a graduate of Brebeuf Jesuit Preparatory School, Xavier University and earned his law degree from Indiana University School of Law-Indianapolis.

The Indianapolis Bar Association is a 133 year old organization of Indianapolis area attorneys, judges, paralegals and law students working to enhance the professional lives of its members and the communities in which they live.
