The new Indiana Conference for Legal Education Opportunity (ICLEO) class has been announced. When first launched in 1997 the ICLEO program was a ground-breaking effort to provide assistance reaching well beyond scholarship funds to minority, low income and educationally disadvantaged college graduates entering law school. However, ICLEO doesn’t only enrich the diversity of the Indiana legal community, it also actively provides mentoring within the legal profession.
Any discussion of mentoring in Indiana should also include mention of a program launched last fall by the Indiana State Bar Association. Entitled “Mentor Match”, this unique initiative allows for the earning of continuing legal education credit by both the mentor and the mentee through simple participation and reporting. Hats off the ISBA and the Indiana Supreme Court for their commitment to all lawyers, future and present.
